CHINA. China Duty Free Group (CDFG) celebrated the Grand Opening of its new duty free stores at Guangzhou New Baiyun International Airport on 15 April.
The shops, operated by CDFG, cover a total sales area of around 1,000sq m. The offer comprises nine separate shops, including six fashion brand stores, one flagship fragrances & cosmetics shop, one watches & jewellery outlet, and a fashion & accessory store.

With travel through the airport likely to be spurred by the Canton Fair and the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, CDFG said that both Chinese and overseas travellers will be able to enjoy a great shopping experience featuring a newly built storefront and favourable prices.
Six famous brand stores – Ferragamo, Bally, Dunhill, Shanghai Tang, Tumi and Furla – make up an elegant “˜fashion corridor’. The flagship fragrances & cosmetics store features over 30 top brands, including Chanel, Christian Dior, Lancôme, La Prairie, Estée Lauder, Clinique and Biotherm. And a similarly high-profile array of brand names is featured in the watches & jewellery area (pictured).
As reported, a five-year formal cooperation agreement was signed between China Duty Free Group and Guangzhou New Baiyun International Airport Co last October. The new retail opening underlines CDFG’s belief in the promising future of China’s third-largest airport and marks a big step in the company’s direct retail operations.
