China Duty Free Group wins Guangzhou Baiyun Airport T1 departures duty-free contract

CHINA. Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Co has awarded its Terminal 1 departures duty-free concession to incumbent China Duty Free Group following an open tender.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is China’s busiest airport by total passenger traffic. It serves as the core airport in the Pearl River Delta and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area that is being developed.

The tender followed the issuing in February by five ministries and commissions of a notice listing the airports where bidding on departures duty-free contracts needed to be carried out.

China Duty Free Group has enjoyed a long-time presence at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport

The airport’s T1 and T2 arrivals and departures duty-free shops are operated by CDFG (Guangzhou Xinmian) Duty Free Merchandise Co, a wholly owned subsidiary of China Duty Free Group.

China Duty Free Group said: “This successful bid for the outbound duty-free operation rights at Baiyun Airport T1 further consolidates our channel advantages in large domestic hub airports.

“It also helps China Duty Free continue to become stronger, better and bigger, and lays a solid foundation for our duty-free business.”

The company said the success consolidates its market leadership, helping to create a more globally competitive and world-class travel retailer. ✈
