FRANCE. Parfums Christian Dior has unveiled its autumn 2009 launches which include novelties within skincare, make-up, fragrance, and travel retail exclusives.
Rolling out in the US this month is Escale à Pondichéry, a new, one-shot feminine fragrance from the “Escales de Dior” collection.
Launched in Europe and Oceania in June, Escale à Pondichéry is set to roll out in Asia and Japan next month.
As reported, the fragrance follows on from Escale à Portofino, also created by Dior Perfumer-Creator François Demachy. Both fragrances feature raw materials that reflect the destination that inspired them.

While Escale à Portofino drew inspiration from Italy, Escale à Pondichéry extends an invitation to Pondicherry, India, which served as the former trading post of the French East India Company.
The scent includes notes of jasmine, cardamom, sandalwood and – the major focus of the fragrance – black tea.
Escale à Pondichéry is presented in the signature “Les Escales de Dior” flacon. The transparent bottle features an embossed canework design, and is topped with a silver cap. The outer carton sports a green label on a white canework background.
Escale à Pondichéry will be available as a 75ml and 125ml edt spray, priced at around US$57 and US$76, respectively. The 125ml is not available in Asia, Japan and Oceania.
Within make-up, Dior has unveiled the new Dior Addict Lip Polish, its Fall Look 2009 and Diorskin Nude.
Launched worldwide in June, the limited-edition Dior Addict Lip Polish (US$28) enters Japan and other Asian markets this month.
Described as an ultra-glamorous product inspired by the backstage world of fashion shows, the gloss is a smoothing lacquer, enriched with moisturising hyaluronic microspheres and ultra reflective mineral mother-of-pearl powders.
Dior Addict Lip Polish is applied via a smoothing roll-on applicator, and is available in three different shades: beige, pink and coral.
It is scented with almond milk, orange blossom, vanilla cream and white musk.

The Dior Fall Look 2009 will make its worldwide debut in August. Inspired by Hollywood icons and figureheads of the Jazz age in the late 1920s and early 1930s, the brand’s new look for autumn incorporates smoky eyes and intensely coloured lips and nails in matching shades.
A key shade for the Fall 2009 look is purple – an historic shade for the House, introduced by one of Christian Dior’s muses, Mitzah Bricard, and later adopted by John Galliano for many of his Dior shows.
The star product for this collection is Jazzclub (US$60), a vintage-style black patent clutch which carries the essentials for creating the smoky eye. The make-up palette comes in two colourways – Smoky Jazz and Purple Jazz.
Besides Dior Jazzclub, the composition of the look incorporates Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Reflect, Dior Addict Lip Color (Dior Addict High Color for Asia/Japan) and Dior 5 Couleurs.

Diorskin Nude, launched earlier this year, will be rolling out in Asian and Japan markets in August.
Diorskin Nude is a range of foundations formulated with active mineralised water. According to the brand, these formulas were completed and optimised with ingredients chosen for their compatibility with the skin, to maintain hydration levels and render the complexion soft, even-toned and radiant.
The ad visual features actress Monica Belluci in the nude. Dior’s Creative Director Tyen explained: “We chose to photograph Monica nude, very lightly made up and with tousled hair because she has something very pure about her, which is a far cry from provocative sensuality. She is beautiful just as she is, she represents a certain truth, and she has a childlike radiance about her.
“We see in [the ad] that the idea of “˜nude’ is independent of age or hair colour; a woman does not need to be 20 and blonde to be pure.”
Diorskin Nude is available in powder and liquid form.
Natural Glow Fresh Powder Makeup (US$41) is a loose powder foundation that contains nearly 20% water. A special goat-hair brush creates a luminous “second skin” result upon application, the brand maintains. It comes in two shades.
Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup Fluid SPF 10 (US$41) contains nearly 40% water: the micro-droplets of water are claimed to create lighter coverage than a more “classic” liquid foundation. It is available in four shades.
Parfums Christian Dior has also unveiled two new travel retail exclusives: Dior Cannage Collection Makeup Palette and Hydra Life 3-Step Beauty Ritual. Both were launched worldwide last month.
Pre-launched exclusively inflight during April, Dior Cannage Collection Makeup Palette (US$78) has a clutch design inspired by Christian Dior’s signature Dior Cannage handbags. The palette contains Diorskin Forever Compact Foundation, blush, six eyeshadows, mini Rouge Dior, Diorshow Black mascara, powder puff, a blush brush and a double-ended applicator.
Hydra Life 3-Step Beauty Ritual (US$99) is a three step routine that aims to restore the skin’s youthfulness by infusing it with moisture. Exclusive to Asian and Japan markets, the pouch includes Hydra Life Essence in Lotion 50ml, Hydra Life Essence in Creme 50ml, and Hydra Life Eye Creme 15ml.
