Claudia Schiffer by Rodenstock launches at Munich’s opti 2014 fair

The Claudia Schiffer by Rodenstock draws inspiration from the 60’s and 70’s

Rodenstock, Germany’s leading manufacturer of lenses and optical frames, officially launched the ‘Claudia Schiffer by Rodenstock’ collection at the opti 2014 trade fair in Munich last week.

First announced in September last year, the collaboration with the supermodel and fashion icon includes eight sunglasses and nine optical styles each in four varying colourways.

The collection draws inspiration from the 60’s and 70’s, with designs reflecting Schiffer’s “understated and modern yet timeless style, as well as her love of vintage”, the company said.

Vintage shapes are updated with a modern colour accent, ranging from shades of transparent colour such as rose pink to elegant tortoiseshell, classic black, burgundy and dark green.

“I have always loved sunglasses and wear them almost every day. Now I came to the point where I didn’t want to compromise anymore,” said Schiffer, who acts as the line’s Creative Director.

“There are lots of glasses on the market that look great but is actually of poor quality; not only the materials but especially the lenses, which are not good for your eyes. I felt it was important to work with the best lenses, as well as trying to create beautiful frames. As I need to wear glasses when watching movies, it was a natural step for me to create an eyewear collection including opticals,” she added.
