Clogau Gold regally boosted by royal wedding fever

A Clogau Gold Milestones bead charm

UK. Welsh gold jewellery specialist Clogau Gold has reported an unusually busy Spring following the royal wedding on 29 April.

Miss Catherine Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, chose to uphold an 88-year tradition of using a pure Welsh gold wedding ring when she wed HRH Prince William last week.

And the royal harpist to HRH Prince of Wales, Claire Jones, wore an exclusive white gold edition of Clogau Gold’s Royal Roses collection at the wedding reception.

An estimated 2 billion people worldwide watched Prince William, now the Duke of Cambridge, placing a simple band of pure Welsh gold onto his bride’s finger.

Clogau Gold has seen an upswing in sales of more than +100% compared to April 2010, with the Milestones collection proving to be the month’s best-seller. The company believes that royally-themed additions to the Milestones bead charm collection contributed to this performance. Clogau Gold’s website saw the number of visits more than double, with people intrigued to find out more about the family-run Welsh company.

In the past, Clogau Gold has gifted the Royal Family with a supply of Welsh gold from the Clogau St David’s mine which was used to create The Queen’s wedding ring. Other royal family members who used Welsh gold for their wedding rings include The Queen Mother, Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana.

Since the royal engagement was announced late last year, interest in the Clogau Gold brand has spread worldwide, from the Caribbean to Australia. In early 2011, Clogau Gold has seen international sales growth of +92% in what is expected to be a landmark year for the supplier.

New for Spring/Summer 2011 are royally-themed jewellery collections, including Royal Roses, Kensington and the company’s own rendition of the royal engagement ring. Each piece of Clogau Gold jewellery contains a touch of rare Welsh gold, offering customers the chance to own their own piece of royal Welsh gold.
