CNSC awarded duty-free store contracts at Luobei and Mishan border crossings

CHINA. Sinopharm Group’s travel retail arm China National Service Corporation (CNSC) has been awarded the duty-free store contracts at Luobei and Mishan border crossings after an open tender.

These contracts – granted on 30 July and 2 August, respectively – give CNSC exclusive operating rights for eight and ten years respectively, covering a total area of 227sq m.

The awards broaden the retailer’s network in Northeast China and continue its recent duty-free expansion.

CNSC said the winning bids demonstrate its robust support for the Northeast Revitalisation Strategy and high-level opening-up.

CNSC will operate the land border duty-free stores in Luobei (above) and Mishan (below)

The Luobei port is a Class I national border crossing, located closest to the provincial capital Harbin in Heilongjiang Province. The Mishan port, a Class I land border crossing for passengers and cargo transport, is situated at the mouth of the Baileng River which borders China and Russia at the northwest end of Lake Xingkai.

Mishan Port’s geographical position makes it an important commercial gateway in the southeastern part of Heilongjiang Province. Both border crossings hold key positions in foreign trade and personnel exchanges in the province and entire northeast region.

The signing of the Joint Statement on Deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Coordination for the New Era between China and Russia has injected new vitality into bilateral relations. The agreement focuses on deepening cooperation in transportation logistics and  providing unprecedented opportunities for border crossing development.

CNSC continues to build its retail portfolio, which includes this downtown duty-free store in Harbin

CNSC pledged to fully leverage the advantages of its downtown, airport and border crossing duty-free stores in Harbin, Heihe, Suifenhe and Dalian to enrich its product offering and enhance service quality.

CNSC plans to create a duty-free shopping environment tailored to the characteristics of the region and international travellers’ needs. This is expected to attract more international visitors, boost tourism and commerce at border crossings, and provide fresh impetus to China’s Northeast Revitalisation Strategy. ✈️
