Colibri joins with Myriad for travel markets push

US. The Colibri Group appointed Myriad International, as their exclusive worldwide duty free distribution partner in October of last year and after successful shows in Cannes and Orlando, the company is now introducing two new ranges to the duty free and travel retail market.

The company known for lighters has been diversifying fast into men’s silver jewellery, which is well established in the UK and US markets, and now men’s accessories in silver and women’s jewellery.

Juliana Oliveira, Colibri Group administrator for international product and sales told The Moodie Report: “The last few months have been spent building up after a reappearance at Cannes. Colibri has been rebranding a lot of products. We are back with World Duty Free and we are working well with Myriad…they are not the usual type of agency.”

Meanwhile Colibri still retains its traditional strength in lighters and smokers requisites. It has just relisted 66 SKUs with World Duty Free and is present in all the major humidors and specialist cigar shops in travel retail.

Adding a new sparkle to its line-up, the universal language of diamonds is clear in the new collection of sterling silver and diamond jewellery, called “˜Daring Diamonds’ (pictured). The designs are ground-breaking for Colibri and the company says the reception has been excellent since its launch in the US in June 2003.

Myriad commercial director Alexis Hart said: “This is a fabulous collection of products from a respected brand name and one that we are delighted to be associated with.”

Fred Levinger, CEO of The Colibri Group, commented: “This new introduction has been the most successful we have ever launched, and testimonials from retailers have shown that the sell-through has been way ahead of expectation. Now we want to offer this collection to a wider market and duty free is an ideal channel.’

The collection is packaged in Chinese redwood jewellery boxes, adding richness normally associated with higher priced diamond jewellery. But Daring Diamonds has an average price at just £30-35 (US$ RRP).

Myriad is also introducing Colibri’s new collection of men’s accessories. This range is currently available in over 100 Ernest Jones stores in the UK domestic market and is also proving to be a big success in both Harrods and Selfridges department stores.

The range is specifically targeted at high end retail outlets and is complemented by eye-catching display units which can be broken down to produce smaller units where space is limited.
