CONFECTIONERY & FOODS: Tante Agathe expands in Asia

SWITZERLAND. Tante Agathe, the Swiss supplier of traditional biscuits with a refined home-baked flavour, has won more listings in travel retail markets far from home.

The company will be supplying a selection of its cookies to The Nuance Group in Hong Kong, and to Mumbai and New Delhi international airports through the India Tourism Development Corp.

The retailers have chosen a variety of Tante Agathe products including the Boites Gourmandes – the slightly crispy Sablés variation or the softer Couronnes Gourmandes- each in four flavours; the Etuis Précieux; the luxury Contemporaine selections of four biscuit flavours; and the Bleu Nuit presentation.

Tante Agathe founder Thierry Uldry commented: “The delicate, fresh flavours of Tante Agathe biscuits are proving remarkably popular in Asia and the Indian subcontinent, markets which are generally known for more exotic, spicy flavours. Biscuits of high quality which are attractively presented are perfect for gift-purchasing in duty free, particularly in countries where alcohol is not an option, and their European origin seems to be an additional selling-point.”
