Coty updates cosmetics portfolio and prepares for new fragrance launches

OPI’s Infinite Shine collection is now rolling out into the travel retail channel

At last month’s TFWA Tax Free Asia Pacific Exhibition, Coty previewed a number of novelties across its fragrances and cosmetics portfolio.

“The new Infinite Shine collection from OPI is rolling out now in travel retail,” Coty Prestige Marketing Director Travel Retail and Export Worldwide Markus Stauss told The Moodie Report. “We have created a special duo pack, comprising the primer base coat and the gloss top coat. In addition, 16 individual Infinite Shine shades will be available in the channel (there are 30 in total).”

As reported, Infinite Shine was created in response to the popularity of long-lasting salon gel manicures. No UV light is required to “cure” the polish, which can be taken off with regular remover. The colour lasts for up to ten days, according to OPI.

“We are very excited about Infinite Shine, as it represents completely incremental business,” noted Stauss. “And in travel retail we have adapted our existing OPI merchandising units to carry it, so no extra in-store space is needed.”

In other OPI news, Coty has updated its Passport to Color travel retail exclusive set of six mini polishes, with new packaging and new shades, in line with updated colour trends and best-sellers.

Stauss confirmed that the OPI Fall/Winter 2015 collection was named after, and inspired by, the Italian city of Venice.

Coty continues to strengthen its presence in the colour category with mid-market brand Rimmel London. “Previously, the focus for Rimmel was more on the inflight channel,” Stauss observed, “but now we are targeting ground shops too.”

Coty has created a number of travel retail exclusive sets for the brand, which are refreshed every six months. Among the latest offerings is the Loud Lasting Colour make-up set, promoted by singer/actress Rita Ora. In July Coty will introduce a new Smooth Operator set, featuring two new Rimmel Wonder’full Mascaras with Argan Oil, plus an eyeliner.

Within skincare, Coty is updating is Philosophy portfolio with Renewed Hope In A Jar, a four-SKU line incorporating a new formula said to work on multiple layers of skin for constant renewal all day, every day. The new collection comprises a Refreshing & Refining Moisturizer, a Revitalizing Creamy Foam Cleanser, a Hydrating & Refining Lotion and a Refreshing & Refining Eye Cream.

Within its Lancaster brand, as reported, Coty has updated its suncare range and relaunched its flagship Tan Maximizer collection. “Tan Maximizer is now clinically proven to prolong tanning for up to one month,” noted Stauss.

Lastly, Coty is preparing to introduce a number of new fragrances across its portfolio, including Eternity Now, Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream edp and Marc Jacobs Decadence. In other news, as in previous years, Coty has created an innovative airport promotional concept for its Chloé portfolio, for the Christmas season. This year’s animation will involve a carousel. Previous events have featured a hot air balloon and a ferris wheel.
