Country Road to open airport store in Sydney’s domestic terminal

AUSTRALIA. Australian fashion brand Country Road is set to open an airport store in Sydney Airport this Saturday 13 July.

Owned by Country Road Group, the eponymous brand joins the fashion retailer’s other brands present at the airport – Mimco and Witchery.

Sydney Airport General Manager of Retail Andrew Gardiner said Country Road would be well received by domestic travellers.

“As Australia’s busiest domestic terminal, T2 represents an exciting opportunity for retailers,” Gardiner said.

“We are constantly evolving our retail mix, with almost 70 new tenancies set to become available in 2013-2014 across T1 and T2, and with brands like Country Road on board we’re confident of continuing to enhance our customers’ airport experience.”

The new Country Road store in Sydney T2 will offer a range of womenswear and women’s accessories, appealing to both the corporate and the leisure traveller

Country Road Managing Director Sophie Holt added: “Country Road is a perfect fit for T2. From the workplace to the weekend, from everyday essentials to aspirational pieces, the store will offer a range of womenswear and women’s accessories, appealing to both the corporate and the leisure traveller.”

“This is a great opportunity to expose Australia’s most iconic brand to a new audience, as Sydney Airport has over 37 million passengers a year,” she said.

Country Road worked closely with designers Meacham Nockles McQualter to develop the store concept in keeping with its relaxed style. Inspired by the modern Scandinavian aesthetic of the Country Road brand, the store will feature the use of natural timbers and crisp white accented with graphic black. The new outlet at Sydney Airport’s T2 will boast more than 100sq m of floor space.

Country Road has 146 stores across Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, including concession stores in David Jones and Myer.
