Desigual has struck a new creative collaboration with legendary French artist, creator and image-maker Jean-Paul Goude for its Spring/Summer 2018 collection, which was unveiled earlier today at New York Fashion Week.
The Moodie Davitt Report was the exclusive travel retail media at the catwalk show and will bring you further information on the SS18 collection soon.
As part of the collaboration, Goude has been appointed as Desigual Artistic Director and will consult on every aspect of Desigual’s brand image, from product design to marketing efforts to industry facing events. Goude oversaw look selection, styling, and all other creative elements of Desigual’s SS18 show’s unveiling.
The SS18 range includes a capsule collection of womenswear, created by Goude, which was also revealed at today’s show.
Goude has over 40 years’ experience in creating advertising for high-end brands, contributing to internationally recognised titles and collaborating with world-famous artists. Desigual said Goude’s portfolio supports its goal of becoming a more diversified, more dynamic and ultimately more serviceable fashion label for its clients.
In a statement, Desigual said: “The partnership with Jean-Paul Goude exemplifies Desigual’s ongoing commitment to a company-wide transformation that was enacted in 2015. As the company evolves, Desigual has catalysed a shift towards becoming a more consumer-centric label by: becoming closer with its customers, investing in material quality, introducing new patterns and designs, segmenting and differentiating its collections, speeding up in-store product renewals, updating its campaign strategies and enhancing its media investments.”

Jean-Paul Goude said: “I like challenges and helping Desigual on the process of updating its image while keeping faithful to its DNA is extremely exciting. I hope I will be up to the task. Having been invited to be part of such an exciting project is as stimulating as it is intimidating.”
Desigual Chief Client Officer David Meire commented: “Desigual has long stood for authenticity, singularity and nonconformity. This artistic collaboration with Jean-Paul Goude signifies a step forward in Desigual’s desire to permit talent from myriad disciplines to contribute to, and enrich, the diversity of the brand by way of their unexpected works.”
