Cross has launched The Peerless 125 limited edition fountain pen, which celebrates the 125th anniversary of the writing instruments brand’s very first fountain pen.
Described as the finest writing instrument that Cross has ever brought to market, The Peerless 125 limited edition fountain pen pays tribute to the original Peerless Pen which debuted in 1889.
With a length of 146mm and width of 13.2mm, and weighing 43g, its wide-bodied design is complemented by the brand’s signature conical top. The conical top features a round bezel jewellery setting which holds a certified Grade AA genuine ruby with a brilliant faceted cut.

Featuring a premium threaded cap design and a screw-off cap, the pen has a wide nib made of solid 18kt gold and contains specially formulated ink which flows easily and dries quickly, according to Cross. Each pen comes with two fountain pen cartridges (#8921) and a converter (#8751) to fill it from bottled ink.
The release is limited to 125 fountain pens worldwide, each individually engraved with a serial number and presented on a crystal pen stand. Each is hand assembled in the USA from USA and foreign components, and comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the designer and a Jewelers Certificate of Authenticity verified and signed by a certified USA gemologist.
The Peerless 125 core collection features four finishes (23kt Heavy Gold Plate, Obsidian Black Lacquer, Platinum Plate/Medalist, and Platinum Plate) and three tips (fountain pen, ballpoint and rollerball).
The Peerless 125 Contest
To celebrate the 125th anniversary, Cross launched The Peerless 125 contest last week, aimed at finding 125 individuals who embody the concept of being truly Peerless.
“The Peerless 125 are outstanding individuals defined by their actions and by their hearts,” Cross explained. “They are continuously giving and accomplishing greatness. They are the ones who make their marks on the world, even if their mark is only felt by one person. They are parents, mentors, philanthropists, executives, volunteers, and friends.”
To nominate someone for the title, consumers can go on thepeerless.cross.com. Nominees can be voted for up to once a day; sharing the post on both Facebook and Twitter gives voters one additional vote per day (total of two votes per day).
The nominee with the most votes at midnight on 7 March will win The Peerless 125 limited edition fountain pen, which has a retail price of US$3,900. The 125 second place winners will each receive the Peerless 125 Obsidian Black Lacquer Ballpoint Pen, retailing at US$175.
