Porsche Design has launched an exclusive limited-edition eyewear collection to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 911 Turbo sports car.
The Turbo No. 1 design pays homage to the first Porsche 911 Turbo, presented as a birthday gift to Louise Piëch – daughter of the legendary engineer, creator and inventor Ferdinand Porsche. The fastest road-approved sports car of its time, the 1974 release brought to public roads what had previously only been seen on race tracks.
Made of lightweight titanium, the unisex aviator sunglasses include an interchangeable lens system equipped with VisionDrive Lens Technology so the bold silver mirrored lenses, complete with tartan pattern, can be easily swapped.
The sunglasses incorporate the grey colour of the classic Porsche P8478 as well as the red plaid pattern of the vehicle interior.
The Turbonite sunglasses feature the latest metallic-grey tone developed for the monochrome Porsche crest that appears on its Turbo vehicles.
The squared aviator sunglasses features interchangeable lenses and come with an additional pair of green lenses.
In addition to the Porsche Design lettering, both models in the range are embossed with the classic ‘turbo’ lettering on the left temple and lens.
Only 1,974 pieces are available for each design, with the model number engraved on the frame.
This collection is available at Porsche Design stores, on porsche‑design.com and in selected travel retail doors. ✈️
