Delaware North bolsters presence at Perth Airport with four dining venues for Terminal 1

AUSTRALIA. Global hospitality company Delaware North has secured four key locations in Perth Airport Terminal 1, extending their 30-year partnership with first-to-market food & beverage concepts.

This expansion underscores Delaware North’s continued growth across Australia and New Zealand, while also supporting the projected rise in passengers and flights at Perth Airport.

The three new outlets will open at the landside departures precinct, while the fourth will be located at the airside departures area.

Key openings will include Gage Roads Sports Bar (T1 Landside), a collaboration between Delaware North and Gage Roads Brew. The family-friendly spot will feature digital screens, an arcade, pub-style fare and WA produce, as well as Gage Roads craft beers and ciders.

A 24-hour concept, the redesigned Hungry Jack’s (T1 Landside) will serve barista coffee and a breakfast-focused menu in a family-friendly space, complemented by self-order kiosks.

The Social (T1 Landside) is a community-based café concept in partnership with Little Owl Coffee Roasters, serving artisanal coffee alongside live entertainment. A key highlight will be a local beverage bar, designed to evoke the spirit of West Coast hospitality.

Designed for pre-flight downtime, Gage Roads will feature Western Australian craft beers and live sports in a lively environment

Marking its first expansion beyond Broome, Matso’s Brewhouse (T1 Airside) will offer travellers a taste of its distinctive WA hospitality. The family-friendly venue will serve Matso’s famous Ginger-Mango Beer, locally sourced produce and Pan-Asian cuisine. Matso’s branded merchandise will also be available at the venue.

These additional F&B offerings align with the airport’s sustained growth in passenger traffic over the past few years.

Last year, Perth Airport served approximately 16.9 million passengers, up +12.38% year-on-year.

The airport’s monthly passenger numbers have also continued to increase, with February numbers rising +2.23% year-on-year.

To accommodate the continued surge in passenger traffic, Perth Airport launched its ‘one airport’ concept late last year, outlining its vision for the future of aviation in Western Australia.

The A$5 billion (US$3.2 billion) investment programme – the largest private infrastructure development in Perth – will integrate all flights into the Airport Central precinct. The project will also feature a new parallel runway, terminal facilities, two multi-storey carparks with associated roadworks, an upgrade of Terminal 2  and the airport’s first hotel.

Delaware North’s new locations will accommodate a diverse range of travellers, reinforcing Perth Airport’s status as a global travel hub, while expanding capacity by millions of seats and driving the region’s tourism and economic growth, the company noted.

The latest project aligns with the company’s strategic expansion in the Australian and New Zealand tourism markets, building on its existing operations across major airports in Melbourne, Adelaide, Auckland and Perth, as well as key international gateways, including Los Angeles, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta and Orlando International.

Construction on the first of the new Delaware North locations is set to begin in the next few months, targeting completion of all four sites by the end of September.

Delaware North Australia New Zealand Managing Director Gary Brown said, “The awarding of these sites is a real testament to the highly productive relationship that has continued to grow and thrive between Perth Airport and Delaware North over the more than 30 years since we commenced operations at the airport.

“We are incredibly excited to bring these innovative food & beverage concepts to Perth Airport. This expansion reflects our commitment to enhancing the passenger experience with unique and high-quality offerings that celebrate the best of Perth and Western Australia.”

Perth Airport Chief Commercial & Aviation Officer Kate Holsgrove added, “It is fantastic to have our valued partner Delaware North be part of our significant refurbishment and refresh of the customer offering at T1 International.

“We’ve seen airlines show confidence in the Perth market by increasing and adding new international services which has led to a +23% surge in international passengers in 2024 compared to 2023, hitting a record 4.8 million in the calendar year.

“As a growing airport we want to ensure we have a range of quality food and beverage options for our passengers.

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with the globally experienced team at Delaware North to deliver four new exciting outlets in Terminal 1 International which will enhance the customer experience at Perth Airport.” ‍
