INDIA. Delhi Duty Free Services has developed a month-long promotion, dubbed the “˜Shopping Brand Prix,’ to mark the occasion of the first ever Formula One race to be held in India. The race takes place on 30 October in New Delhi.
The duty free campaign takes place at Indira Gandhi International Airport T3. Delhi Duty Free’s stores feature a race track and three F1 cars from the Sahara Force India, Ferrari and McLaren Mercedes teams, with showcases in both Arrivals and Departures. Also on show are cut-outs of F1 winners and displays highlighting the event.
The three cars are courtesy of partnerships with brands such as United Breweries, Diageo and Philip Morris, the retailer said. UB Group is also offering merchandise such as Force India miniature cars, pen drives, key chains and watches, as gifts with purchase. Diageo is also promoting its team by offering special free gifts and exclusive discounts on the product range. The brand is focusing on Johnnie Walker Black Label F1 limited edition tin packs. Ferrari merchandise includes T-shirts and speakers.
Delhi Duty Free Services COO Arun Barathi said: “F1 coming to India and specifically to Delhi is great news and I am sure it will do Delhi proud. It is also turning out to be a great retail opportunity window in October. We expect a surge in passengers for the F1 weekend and Delhi Duty Free will proudly give them all a taste of what F1 in Delhi is going to be.
