INDIA. Delhi Duty Free (DDFS) celebrated its 14th anniversary with a grand event in collaboration with Suntory Global Spirits, marking the launch of the Kogei Collection from The House of Suntory late last month.
The gathering, held at the Oberoi, Gurgaon on 27 July, was attended by DDFS and Suntory Global Spirits executives alongside other guests.
The Kogei Collection comprises the Yamazaki Peated Malt Spanish Oak and the Hakushu Peated Malt Spanish Oak. These expressions, embodying Kogei or traditional Japanese craft, are available exclusively in travel retail. The range was the subject of a recent Moodie Davitt Spotlight Series eZine.
The collection blends peated malt with Spanish oak, enriching Yamazaki’s signature flavours and enhancing Hakushu’s smoky herbaceous profile. The packaging, designed in partnership with the Chiso kimono house, draws inspiration from Chiso’s bespoke kimono designs and the natural surroundings of the distilleries.
The evening commenced with a cocktail hour, followed by an introduction from Vir Sanghvi, a renowned food and lifestyle journalist.
Sanghvi shared his passion for whisky and highlighted the exceptional shopping experience at Delhi Duty Free. Guests were then treated to a gourmet Japanese dinner prepared by chefs Randy Pielago Cultivo and Shailender Rawal.
Each dish was paired with Suntory whiskies, including Toki, Hibiki, and Yamazaki, with commentary by Suntory Global Spirits The Blend – Advocacy Manager Rohan Jelkie.
The event décor was inspired by the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries.
