DFASS boosts Singapore Airlines inflight business with key activities

Singapore Airlines cabin crew at the training and motivation day last month

SINGAPORE. Leading inflight concessionaire DFASS Group hosted the annual Singapore Airlines KrisShop training and motivational event on 18 September at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel and Zouk Club. The event is one of a number of recent activities aimed at building the business for KrisShop, the airline’s inflight duty free brand (see below for other news).

The training event featured four hours of intensive training sessions, conducted by representatives from key brands such as Diageo, Aigner, Bering, Coty Prestige, Lancôme, Laneige, Lifetrons, P&G Prestige, Philip Stein, SK-II and Superdry. Each of the brand owners had the opportunity to highlight their brand stories, latest products and benefits to around 300 crew members.

Following the daytime training sessions, 500 crew members, airline management and brand owners were invited to a ‘Retro Reloaded’ party co-sponsored by Diageo at the Zouk Club.

The MC for the evening was Singapore Airlines Inflight Supervisor Ravi Nadeson, who awarded prizes to crew members displaying the best recollection of their earlier training session. Some 180 prizes were presented during the stage games, product quizzes and prize draws. The highlight of the celebrations was a lucky draw, with the top prizes comprising a pair of watches plus watch winder, a Mont Blanc hamper and a SK-II LXP range hamper, presented by senior management from Singapore Airlines.

This was the seventh annual training and motivational event hosted by the DFASS Group and its sponsors.

Lounge promotion
In related news, guests at Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris Lounge at Singapore Changi T3 had the opportunity to place orders for KrisShop products during a two-week period this month.

DFASS (Singapore) held the inaugural KrisShop road show at the SilverKris Lounge, showcasing some of the latest and most popular products in KrisShop. The move was to enhance the service to premium passengers, said DFASS.

The company added: “Many of the passengers who stopped by the booth commented that it was a great idea, as they do not get to feel or try the items onboard since these are normally shrink-wrapped in packaging. Passengers who were interested in purchasing any item were assisted by the friendly KrisShop Ambassadors to complete an inflight request coupon. The passengers then just needed to hand this coupon to the crew when they boarded to purchase the item without having to flip through the catalogue again.”

The road show also promoted the launch of the KrisShop iPad app. To celebrate this launch, a -10% discount is given for all online purchases, including pre-orders and mail orders, until 30 November 2013. Additionally, members of the carrier’s PPS Club will continue to receive their usual member discounts.

Philip Stein: “Phenomenal success”
Finally, KrisShop has launched the Philip Stein sleep bracelet. “It has been a phenomenal success,” said DFASS Singapore Deputy Chairman John Garner. He added that it’s the first time DFASS has seen a product from the accessories category lead sales, out-selling even popular new skincare launches.

Will Stein, Co-Founder and President of Philip Stein, added: “We are very happy and excited to see our sleep bracelet sell so well on Singapore Airlines. It is a great night-time accessory for anyone, especially frequent travellers. We look forward to further successful launches with DFASS on other airlines.”
