INTERNATIONAL. The Duty Free World Council Academy has launched a course to promote the responsible retailing of tobacco and smoke-free alternatives, helping frontline staff address the challenges of selling these products in the channel.
This latest programme builds on the success of previous training modules on the responsible retailing of alcohol, and of confectionery, chocolates and biscuits, which have attracted over 12,000 enrollees.
Several leading travel retailers have already integrated these courses into their staff training programmes.
Developed to promote global industry standards, the 20-minute session is also applicable to other retail staff, suppliers and third parties engaged in the sale of this product category in duty free.
The course is free of charge and currently available in English, with Spanish and Mandarin versions set to launch in the coming months.
All DFWC Academy courses are designed in formats compatible with most corporate learning management systems (LMS) and can be integrated directly into an organisation’s LMS if required.
Duty Free World Council President Sarah Branquinho said, “Responsible retailing is particularly important for our industry given the controls and restrictions which apply to some of the product categories sold in duty-free stores.
“It is critical to the reputation of our industry and forms a foundation for its growth, given that retail practices are monitored by regulators whose decisions can have huge impacts on us. It is another example of our industry ensuring that our customers can shop with confidence in duty and tax-free stores.
“I encourage all industry stakeholders involved in the retailing of tobacco and smoke-free alternative products in duty free to avail of this newly created industry asset.
“The Duty Free World Council is proud to offer this course free of charge as part of our ongoing service to the industry in pursuit of our goal to raise standards through education.” ✈
