Diageo Global Travel opens Johnnie Walker Houses in Mumbai and Taipei

Johnnie Walker House Mumbai is the first such opening in travel retail

Diageo Global Travel is opening two Johnnie Walker House showcase stores in travel retail – one in Mumbai, India and another in Taipei, Taiwan. These follow openings of the concept in Beijing, Shanghai and Seoul (domestic markets).

The new Johnnie Walker Houses are designed to educate travellers through engaging experiences around the leading Scotch brand.

Travellers can learn about the history of Johnnie Walker through a number of specially created wall installations; and in deluxe mentoring spaces specialist brand ambassadors will help them to touch, taste and smell the elements that make up the liquid.

To celebrate the inauguration of the Houses, a limited edition bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label has been created. The Johnnie Walker House Art Collection – Mumbai Edition will be exclusively available at Mumbai International Airport.

Johnnie Walker House Mumbai
The Johnnie Walker House Mumbai, in collaboration with DFS Group and Flemingo International, launched today (2 September). It is located in the Departures concourse of Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The exclusive The Johnnie Walker House Art Collection – Mumbai Edition is on offer there. The special bottle shows an interpretation of the original Johnnie Walker journey from Scotland to India in 1883 and reflects the whisky’s heritage as one of the world’s first international brands.

Johnnie Walker House Taiwan
The Johnnie Walker House Taiwan, launching late September 2014, will be located in the Departures concourse immediately after immigration at Terminal 2 of Taoyuan International Airport, Taipei. The brand first traded in Taiwan in 1925. Within, travellers can purchase a range of unique, exclusive whisky collections that are exclusively available at the location.

Starting this month, all consumers will be able to access a copy of Johnnie Walker House Edit, a commissioned quarterly title that brings together curated content from contributors, stylists, photographers and creative talent, which will also be available to patrons of the newly launched properties. The periodical’s first edition explores the subject of fame and its relationship with affluence across art, design, literature, music, drama and the epicurean world. The title is also available digitally via Magzter.

Johnnie Walker Houses are an exclusive collection of Scotch whisky embassies outside Scotland. The brand pioneered its first House in Shanghai, China in 2011, followed by Beijing, China in 2012 and Seoul, South Korea in 2013.
