Diptyque reveals its holiday collection inspired by ‘dancing flames’

Diptyque has unveiled its festive collection, which features a range of limited-edition candles, an advent calendar, and a limited-edition fragrance diffuser and room spray.

Available until 31 December, the range incorporates the flame as its central motif. The visuals take the form of calligrams composed of a flame’s poetic definition from Encyclopédie des Lumières (published 1751).

The collection celebrates 60 years of Diptyque’s classic candle

Diptyque highlighted a statement from this definition: “Thus is called that subtle, light, luminous and glowing body that is seen rising above the surface of objects that are burning.”

The ‘dancing flames’ featured in the holiday season collection honour the 60th anniversary of Diptyque’s emblematic candle created in 1963.

The collection’s packaging is adorned with coloured, black and gold swirls. The range offers a selection of scented and decorative objects – from limited editions of the classic candle and dinner candles made of moulded, scented wax, to the gold melted wax candle holder and the advent calendar.

The three limited-edition versions of the classic candles include: Sapin, featuring a pine tree aroma; Délice, with dried fruit and vanilla accords; and Coton candle, incorpating the tonka bean.

The Délice candle vessel is decorated with red, black and golden flames

The collection also includes the large Ambre candle, which is presented in a vessel coated with copper-gold enamel. The giant Baies candle (5kg) with nine wicks is enamelled in deep matte black and embossed with the maison’s emblematic oval.

The giant Baies candle joins other holiday creations such as the fragrance diffuser, encased in Murano glass with embedded silver specks.
A newcomer to Diptyque’s range of personal fragrances is L’Eau Papier Eau de Toilette, which comes in a limited-edition flacon featuring a golden illustration detailed with a transparent relief.

The ‘Basile’ motif appears in a festive variant for the Gold Basile collection, which includes a snuffer, stand, tray, dessert plate and dinner plate. Artist Cécile Bichon’s golden candle holder offers a salute to wax, while the leather sleeve celebrates the Diptyque flame.

The candle ornament, stand and candelabra in the ‘Ray’ collection – metalwork objects crafted in a workshop in Portugal – include golden ray-shaped design elements.

The ‘Infinite’ candlestick, handcrafted in borosilicate glass, is inspired by the Diptyque oval. The oval motif is also taken up in the festive versions of the carousel with its ten pendants and lantern.

Gift boxes and bags containing candles and perfumes round off the collection. These feature the ritual set, which comprises refillable scented candle La Vallée du Temps (Valley of Time) and two candle care accessories.
