SOUTH AFRICA. Diverse Flavours has been appointed to represent Eagles; Nest Wines in Asia and Middle East duty Free/travel retail.
Diverse Flavours, co-founded by experienced duty free executive Anthony Budd in 2010, is an exporter of wines, food and beverages from South Africa.
Commenting on the appointment, Budd said: “Eagles’ Nest Wines from the famous wine-growing area of Constantia has become an iconic brand and is developing a huge reputation amongst its peers and the consumer who is in the know. Eagles’ Nest produces award-winning wines and I am extremely confident that this brand will develop strongly in duty free, particularly in Asia.”

Eagles’ Nest Shiraz 2009 was recently awarded the Shiraz Trophy in the Five Nations Wine Challenge, an international competition involving South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, and Argentina. In addition, it also won the International Wine and Spirit Competition’s (IWSC) International Trophy for the Best Shiraz in the 2009 Competition.
In the latest edition of Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, Eagles’ Nest received 91 points for the 2008 Shiraz, 90 points for the 2008 Verreaux and 93 points for the 2009 Viognier.
The Eagles’ Nest portfolio includes Shiraz, Verreaux, Merlot, Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc.
New listings with DFS at Changi Airport
In related news, the DFS shops at Singapore Changi Airport will soon be selling wines from Ernie Els Wines and Napier Winery.
Budd commented: “We are delighted to add these premium South African wines to our existing range of Avondale, Deetlef’s and Hidden Valley wines which are currently being sold in the DFS stores at Changi.
“We are confident that these new wine editions will meet the consumer’s expectations, delivering a premium, quality, branded offering to the consumer looking for something different and unique from South Africa, with its 350-year-old wine-making history, its mix of old and new world styles and its exciting brand names and experiences.
“These listings are very timely as Ernie Els wines have just received glowing reviews in the August 2011 edition of Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate. Three wines received a score 90 and above, while two scored 89 points.”
The new range of wines in DFS will include Ernie Els Signature Blend 2007, Ernie Els Proprietors Blend 2009, Ernie Els Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Ernie Els Merlot 2010, and Napier Sir George Qintas 2008. They are scheduled to be in the shops in October.
