A specially designed gondola for South African wines at Bali International Airport |
Diverse Flavours has achieved a listing for its products in exclusive South African wine gondolas at Jakarta and Bali Airports.
The travel retail specialist launched 32 South African wines at Jakarta and Bali airports with Plaza Bali Duty Free.
Three specially designed gondolas (pictured above and below) were placed in two shops at Jakarta International Airport and one in Bali International Airport in November 2012. The gondolas featured wines from Avondale, Cederberg, Deetlefs, Eagles’ Nest, Ernie Els, Hidden Valley and Napier.
The sales staff at both Jakarta and Bali airports were given training on South African wine production and the seven estates.
Many of the wines offered in the Plaza Bali shops have been awarded 90 points or more by Robert Parker, of Wine Advocate magazine.
Growing and powerful middle class and elite
Plaza Bali’s Prabowo Kuntjoro said: “We are delighted to work with Diverse Flavours to introduce for the first time South African premium wines to our shops. The level of interest in these South African wines has already surpassed our expectations.”
Diverse Flavours Managing Director Anthony Budd commented: “Jakarta Airport is one of the fastest-growing in Asia – up +19% to 52.4 million travellers, and Bali currently at 12.7 million passengers is set to grow to 20 million in the years to come.
“With international passengers from Korea, Japan, China, Australasia and Europe, this represents a great opportunity to showcase the best of South African wine to a wide range of consumer groups.
“Further, Indonesia is one of the best performing economies in Asia with a growing and powerful middle class and elite. We are therefore very pleased to have this great opportunity to work with Plaza Bali.”
