CHINA. Moët Hennessy Travel Retail has opened the first Veuve Clicquot shop-in-shop in the Asia/Oceania region at Global Premium Duty Free (GDF) Plaza in Haikou, Hainan province.
Veuve Clicquot, which celebrates its 250th anniversary this year, is extending an invitation “to dream big, bright and beautiful” with the opening of the boutique housed in GDF Plaza’s Mova Mall store.
Described as “an ode to joy and optimism”, the spectacular retail space embodies Solaire culture, expressing the convictions of brand founder Madame Clicquot “that each day opens new paths to invent tomorrow”, Moët Hennessy Travel Retail said.
“We are delighted to bring to life 250 years of our Solaire culture in our Hainan flagship, a place where visitors can be fully immersed in the heart and heritage of Veuve Clicquot,” said Veuve Clicquot President & CEO Jean-Marc Gallot.
Three materials were chosen to reflect the spirit and essence of Veuve Clicquot: oak in tribute to craftsmanship, the hallmark solar Clicquot yellow, and limestone reminiscent of the House’s chalk cellars in Champagne.

Visitors can enjoy a solar journey through the personalisation atelier to discover or rediscover the Arrow – a Veuve Clicquot icon – or through a tasting of Veuve Clicquot’s Champagnes as they learn about its legacy.
This new retail concept developed for Dufry – international support partner to GDF Plaza – features the full Veuve Clicquot range, the ICONS collection, and immersive consumer experiences designed to create a Sense of Place.
“At Moët Hennessy, we recognize that travel retail goes well beyond being a key sales channel,” said Moët Hennessy Travel Retail President Laurent Boidevezi.
“It’s an amazing platform to build brand desirability amongst worldly consumers. Crafting experiences is at the heart of Moët Hennessy’s DNA and this Veuve Clicquot flagship is the perfect illustration of what we stand for.”
The Icon: The Clicquot Arrow
The Clicquot Arrow – a modern reinterpretation of milestone road signs – invites travellers to personalise their giftboxes with the destination of their choice.
“A souvenir and a chance to discover somewhere new, the Arrow marks a joyful entrance into the world of Veuve Clicquot,” the company said.
The mono-material giftbox is made from “infinitely recyclable” white steel, featuring a biodegradable and compostable wedge composed of 100% sugarcane waste – also plastic-free and 100% recyclable.
Each giftbox contains a 75cl bottle of Yellow Label and can be personalised on site.

La Grande Dame by Baccarat: a symbol of exceptional french savoir-faireVeuve Clicquot has partnered with renowned French crystal maker Baccarat to create what the Champagne house called “an exceptional masterpiece”. Inspired by Madame Clicquot, who was renowned for her dedication to writing letters to her agents around the world, the Inkwell is carved from one of the largest crystal pieces ever made in a single block. It is the culmination of more than 1,000 hours of meticulous work. The Inkwell opens to reveal a black and gold pewter Champagne bucket. Its base features a set of four Baccarat crystal glasses and a drawer that transforms into a leather-enrobed serving tray. Each of the 15 pieces, made entirely in France, is signed and numbered by Baccarat. Described as “the pinnacle of luxury”, this offer is accompanied by a wax-sealed envelope inviting its owner and a guest to Champagne to walk in the footsteps of Madame Clicquot at the House’s historical venues as part of an exclusive two-day immersion. |
