UK. Her Majesty The Queen received a bronze model of the Darley Arabian from Dubai Duty Free’s Executive Vice Chairman Colm McLoughlin to mark her Diamond Jubilee at the Dubai Duty Free Spring Trials Meeting at Newbury Racecourse on Friday.
The sculpture is modelled on the paintings of Stubbs, Sartorious and Roberts and is number one in a series of nine.
McLoughlin said: “We were delighted to have an opportunity to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee with an informal presentation at Newbury, an environment where she is clearly very happy.
“Our shared passion for horses is reflected in the nature of the gift which acknowledges the Darley Arabian’s contribution to the heritage of the modern thoroughbred.”
Dubai Duty Free returned as title sponsors of the two-day Spring Trials meeting for the 16th year. Among the winning owners were His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Her Royal Highness Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Also present at the royal presentation was Salah Tahlak, Senior Vice President-Corporate Communications, Dubai Duty Free and Sinead El Sibai, Vice President-Marketing, Dubai Duty Free.
