UAE. The perseverance of a German vet finally paid off when he became US$1 million richer in the latest Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw, which took place at Dubai Airport’s Sheikh Rashid Terminal.
Mr T. Rahm had purchased almost 100 tickets in the promotion over the past four years before buying the lucky one on the Internet. “This is the best news I’ve ever received in my life,” said the 48-year-old when he received his surprise phone call from Dubai Duty Free. “Winning a million dollars is just fantastic!”
Two earlier winners – Mohammad Hussain, a Pakistani national based in Jeddah, and Sajitha Deepak Shankar – were presented with their ceremonial cheques after the draw by Dubai Duty Free Managing Director Colm McLoughlin and Deputy Managing Director George Horan.
In the Finest Surprise promotion, three winners each took home a luxury vehicle. Poul Hauberg-Jensen, an Abu Dhabi-based Danish national, won a Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe (Carrera White), Khatun Dahla, a Kenyan based in Mombasa, won a Mercedes Benz S500, and Brian Broussard, of the US, won a Harley-Davidson FLSTFI Fatboy.
A presentation to previous Finest Surprise winners was also made. Iftikhar Alam, a Pakistani national based in Karachi, was delighted to receive the keys of the Mercedes Benz S500, while Hejji Al Humaid, a Saudi national based in Jubail, rode away a Harley-Davidson.
Also present at the draw and presentation were Dubai Duty Free IT & Logistics Director Ramesh Cidambi and Events, Advertising & Media Relations Manager Sinead El Sibai.
