Ajay Bhatia, a Senior Buyer from Dubai Duty Free’s Purchasing Department, has won the Drinks International “˜Buyer of the Year’ title at the Travel Retail Awards held in Cannes on 22 October.
Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman Colm McLoughlin said: “This award marks a great achievement for Dubai Duty Free’s excellent merchandising and specialist selection of wines and spirits, which in 2012 accounted for sales of US$235 million. Congratulations also to our Purchasing team which has a thorough understanding of its customer base and demands which is matched by peerless staff training and an exciting range of exclusive product promotions.”
Bhatia joined Dubai Duty Free in 2002 as Sales Assistant and was promoted as Data Coordinator in the Purchasing Department in 2004, Buying Coordinator in 2005 for Confectionery and Fine Food, Buyer for Wines and Spirits in 2007, Senior Category Buyer for Liquor and Tobacco in 2010 and Senior Buyer in 2013.
Bhatia is handling the Procurement of Liquor & Tobacco categories at Dubai Duty Free.
