INTERNATIONAL. Two recent competitions held on The Moodie Report.com by two of our brand partners – Dubai Duty Free and Imagination Unlimited International (for its Van Gogh Vodka representation in global duty free) – attracted heavy interest drawn by some great prizes.
Kevin Walsh, Owner of UK specialist travel retail supplier and distributor Premier Portfolio, won the Dubai Duty Free caption contest in which we asked readers to provide a caption for the dramatic photograph of tennis aces Andre Agassi and Roger Federer playing atop the US$1,500 a night seven star Burj Al Arab hotel, the mighty Dubai landmark built on reclaimed land in the sea – Dubai Duty Free Managing Director can be seen in the umpire’s chair.
The players were in town for the Dubai Duty Free Men’s Open, won by Federer (though his game never scaled the heights shown in our photo).
Kevin’s winning caption was: “That ball boy is very slow in getting the ball back to us”¦”
In the Van Gogh Valentine’s Day competition, entrants had to answer the following questions with Unlimited amounts of Imagination:
1 You burn 26 calories in a one-minute kiss. True or False?
2 Even on Valentine’s Day, Eskimos, Polynesians and Malaysians rub noses instead of kissing. True or False?
3 Van Gogh Vodka adds a whole new dimension to kissing. True or False?
4 In Ireland, you will have good luck if you kiss the Blarney Stone. True or False?
5 Van Gogh Vodka has more vodka flavours than any other vodka in the world. True or False?
6 For details on Van Gogh products, you contact “Imagination@Work” – Lars@IUIbrands.com. True or False?
Answers came in as many shades of political correctness as Van Gogh has vodka flavours. Former Virgin Atlantic Airways inflight sales executive Rachel Lovejoy (now working in the media) said the answer to question three depended on what you were doing with the vodka at the time; while Imperial Tobacco’s John Kammerman said the answer to question one depended entirely on whether it was a Hershey’s Kiss.
But the winner was Andy Ilett, Wine Buyer and Special Projects Manager, Alpha Asia & Middle East, Colombo Sri Lanka. Congratulations Andy, some fine vodka is winging its way to you.
