Dublin Airport Authority formally renamed daa by government

IRELAND. Dublin Airport Authority, parent group of travel retailer Aer Rianta International (ARI), has been formally renamed daa by its principal shareholder the Irish government.

According to the company, the decision represents “a pragmatic and cost-effective response to a situation where the specific “˜Dublin’ and “˜Authority’ elements of the corporate name did not fully reflect its business focus or ethos”.

Under the existing holding company framework, daa will continue to promote the identities of its operating business units, including Dublin and Cork airports; ARI, plus a newly-established subsidiary focusing on airport transactions and advisory services, which has been working under the Consult DAA name.

This latter division has already won contracts to design lounges for Aer Lingus at Dublin, Heathrow and Boston airports, and has carried out safety audits and training through Airports Council International. The new division is also offering its services as an advisor to investors that are taking part in mergers and acquisitions within the airports business.
