Valerie Singleton, with DAA car park co-ordinators Padraig Lavin and Pat O’Keeffe, tops up the first user of the scheme |
IRELAND. Airport authority DAA has introduced five charging points for electric cars at Dublin Airport, under a joint initiative between the company and Ireland’s Electricity Supply Board.
Three electric car parking spaces with charging units are located in the T2 multi-storey car park, with a further two spaces in the Executive Car Park on Level 1. The new facility, which became operational on 9 July, means that motorists can top up while meeting or seeing off passengers in the terminal, or fully recharge their vehicles if leaving their car for longer.
According to DAA, the venture is designed to encourage the use of electric cars and to promote environmental sustainability. DAA Landside Facilities Manager Valerie Singleton explained: “We are championing the idea of electric car usage while enhancing the customer experience by providing an extra facility for airport users. We are trialling them here in T2, and if the demand is there we will look at installing them in the other car parks.”
