Dubrovnik Airport posts record travel retail turnover in 2010

CROATIA. Dubrovnik Airport Duty Free Shop posted record retail turnover in 2010, with a +33.8% surge year-on-year to €9.3 million. Average spend per passenger climbed by +15.2% to €17.70 with the number of transactions rising by +17.1% to 246,742.

Passenger numbers at Dubrovnik Airport increased by +13.2% to 1.27 million while international outbound volumes rose by +16.1% to 526,922.

The average transaction value was €37.79, up by +14.2% on a year earlier. The percentage of passengers who purchased in the company’s 640sq m store was a healthy 46%.

Of the key product categories, fragrances & cosmetics accounted for 34% of turnover, with tobacco the second largest sector at 16%. Local products (including wine & spirits from Croatia) was next with a 15% share, and international spirits was 14% of the business.

The top five leading passenger nationalities by volume in 2010 were the UK (21% of travellers) France (13%), Germany (11%), Spain (8%) and Norway (5%).

Trade Department Manager NikÅ¡a Milanović hailed the record achievement during 2010, and saluted Gebr Heinemann, supplier of duty free goods to Croatia’s travel retailers, for its support.
