NETHERLANDS. Dufri International, one of the biggest wholesalers for electronics in the duty free and travel retail market, has been appointed official reseller of Apple iPod products from this month.

The company will be showing the latest Apple iPod models, including accessories, during the Tax Free World Exhibition in Cannes (Stand: Blue Village A11). Dufri’s assortment will consist of the best-selling iPod items, including:

iPod mini: iPod mini weighs only 3.6oz and features an innovative, new Click Wheel that combines the ease and simplicity of a touch wheel with the precision of mechanical buttons for precise, one-handed navigation. iPod mini users can transfer a song per second from their Mac or Windows computer and charge iPod mini with either the included FireWire or USB 2.0 cable.

iPod nano: Thinner than a standard pencil and weighing only 1.5oz, iPod nano comes in two models-the 4GB iPod nano holds up to 1,000 songs and the 2GB model holds up to 500 songs. iPod nano also features the same 30-pin dock connector as the iPod and iPod mini, allowing it to work with over 1,000 accessories.

iPod shuffle: iPod shuffle comes with its own lanyard so it is ready to wear. iPod shuffle works seamlessly with iTunes’ innovative AutoFill feature which automatically selects songs from a user’s music library to fill up iPod shuffle with just one click. iPod shuffle is available in two models: 512MB holding up to 120 songs and 1GB holding up to 240 songs.

iPod photo: Holds up to 25,000 digital photos alongside the user’s music library and displays them on its high-resolution colour screen, allowing the user to scroll through the photo library almost instantly, using iPod’s Click Wheel. iPod Photo comes in 40GB or 60GB models which hold up to 10,000 or 15,000 songs, and its extended battery life gives users up to 15 hours of music playback or up to five hours of slideshows.

In addition to the Apple iPod products, Dufri will be showcasing the following items at Cannes:

New Universe (NU)

NU Cinetrek Mobile DVD Player: Cinetrek is said to have excellent viewing capabilities and supports various CD/DVD formats, MP3, JPEG and WMA. A major design feature is the slot-in loading mechanism, which increases user convenience and reduces the risk of potential damage. Weighing 680g, Cinetrek has a 7in true colour TFT display with excellent resolution.

NU Dark Shadow MP3 sunglasses: Feature MP3 and voice recording. Can store more than 60 songs and has up to eight hours playback time (MP3) with a fully charged battery. The glasses are 100% UV protected, shock-proof and anti-static. With the USB cable the user can easily transfer song files from a PC. Available in 128MB and 256MB versions.

NU Musica: An MP3 player with interchangeable flip covers. The clear, large OLED display is described as user friendly. The MP3 player has built-in microphone and supports five languages.

NU Joya: The compact USB Pendrive features a swirling design protected by stainless steel housing. The Joya portable storage device is compatible with USB2.0 interface. The pendrive has top quality flash memory and is worn with a necklace or key chain.

Philips

Philips Digital Photo Display: Housed in a glass-and-metal-effect frame, the Digital Photo Display’s 5.4in x 3.6in, 133ppi high-resolution LCD screen displays 88% more pixels per sq in than a 17in LCD screen, offering a quality that matches traditional colour prints. Between 50 and 80 pictures from SD, MMC, Memory Stick® and CompactFlash® memory cards, or directly (via USB) from digital cameras or PCs can be uploaded into the Digital Photo Display. Pictures are browsable individually, as thumbnails or displayed in a slideshow.

Philips GoGear Hdd084: Featuring a storage capacity of 3GB, the device is capable of storing up to 1,500 WMA tracks or 750 MP3 songs. Easy-to-use features include a voice-recording button for quick and simple music navigation. Users are ensured a fast transfer for music downloads with a high-speed USB 2.0 connection.

Philips PSS120 ShoqBox Portable Soundmachine: The miniature, portable ShoqBox generates enough sound to fill a room, reproducing dynamic sound quality. The audio player has built-in speakers and produces almost twice the sound of similarly sized traditional speakers. Said to be easy to set up and use, Philips’ ShoqBox enables fast downloads from PCs via a USB connection. With 512Mb internal flash memory, the product can store up to eight hours of MP3 tracks, or 16 hours of WMA music for easy retrieval. Users can also listen to FM radio, while an integrated clock allows you to wake up or go to sleep with your choice of music.

Philips Portable Sports Audio players: Designed to be shock-proof, the range features the PSA235 and PSA245 solid state and PSA610 and PSA615 hard disk players. Colour co-ordinated, neat and unobtrusive, the new Philips PSA players are said to fit well with modern sportswear. The players are also worn as a sports armband, ensuring that body movement is unrestricted. The Rocking Lens user-interface allows convenient and accurate music control on the move. Instead of pressing individual buttons for playback functions, the user simply has to tap a lens on the player to activate a control. The players offer a wide choice of music storage options.

Sony

Sony Walkman: The new Walkman, shipping throughout Europe by the end of October 2005, is available in two sizes: 20GB (NW-A3000) and 6GB (NW-A1000). At the press of a button, the Artist Link function will search every artist, album and song stored on the device and offer suggestions of artists and bands closely linked to the genre of music being played at the time. The device can automatically select the most listened to 100 songs and play them at random; another function randomly selects a year and plays all of the songs from that year. Features an advanced display of 2in on the 20GB version and 1.5in on the 6GB model. The Walkman will be simultaneously introduced with design-matching accessories such as a remote control, a docking station for connection with a PC as well as a docking speaker system.
