INTERNATIONAL. Dufry AG announced this morning that its Board of Directors will propose at the Annual General Meeting on 30 April to add Julián Díaz González (pictured) as a new Board member.
Díaz González’s appointment would be in addition to the seven Board members already elected or proposed for re-election.
He will retain his current role as Chief Executive Officer of Dufry Group.
Díaz has driven Dufry’s remarkable rise over the last nine years from a mid-sized travel retailer into one of the industry’s giants, with a diverse geographic spread of duty free, duty paid, news & books, and food & beverage business.
Today it has operations in 43 countries, operating over 1,200 shops located at airports, seaports and other tourist locations, plus cruise liners.
The company is publicly listed in Switzerland and in Brazil.
Under Díaz’s leadership, Dufry has been pursuing a strategy of profitable growth with focus on tourist destinations in emerging markets.
