MEADFA elects Abdeslam Agzoul as President; Chichi Maponya named Vice President

MIDDLE EAST/AFRICA. The Middle East & Africa Duty Free Association (MEADFA) has elected Avolta CEO Middle East and Africa Abdeslam Agzoul as President.

He steps into the role vacated by the recent resignation of Rob Marriott who also exited his role as ARI-Middle East CEO last month.

Africa Travel Retail Co-Founder and Executive Chair Chichi Maponya was elected Vice President. In addition ARI-Middle East CEO and Global Chief Operations Officer Nuno Amaral joins the MEADFA Board. He has been appointed as Chair of the MEADFA Advocacy Committee.

Agzoul said, “I step into this role with a deep sense of commitment to our industry and this region and thank the MEADFA Board for their trust. MEADFA has a unique opportunity to grow stronger, more inclusive, and more strategic in its purpose.

“Together with the Board and our members, I look forward to reinforcing our advocacy, expanding our membership, driving transformative impact across ESG priorities and delivering long-term value for all stakeholders.”

Rob Marriott served as MEADFA President from March 2025, having previously held the roles of Vice-President and Chair of the Advocacy Committee.

The Board extended its appreciation to him for his leadership and service and wished him well in his future endeavours.
