UK. Dufry has officially launched its refurbished Nuance tax and duty free store at Cardiff Airport.

The store has been allocated an additional 100sq m of floor space and has undergone an extensive redesign aimed at making it easier for passengers to navigate. It now has 580sq m of retail space, and features a full walk through format with clear sight lines across the various product categories, according to Dufry.

The Nuance Group General Manager (UK) Paul Donaldson said: “The refurbishment of our store at Cardiff Airport demonstrates our continued commitment to Wales and our airport partner to bring quality, value and a wider variety of products to passengers.

“Nuance has been proud to partner with Cardiff Airport for over 20 years and the new store is the first phase of further improvements the airport is making in the Departures area in 2016.”

Cardiff Airport Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Debra Barber commented: “This exciting development is a vital step in our commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience. We have worked closely with Dufry to create a fresh, stylish retail experience for passengers, offering a wider choice of brands, importantly including Welsh products so that people flying from Cardiff can support local suppliers.

“The next steps are to improve the food & beverage offering airside and work is due to be completed ahead of the peak summer season with a new café and bar/restaurant. We look forward to a busy summer season with a brand new look for our passengers.”

A beauty area features at the entrance to the store and brands such as OPI nail care and The Body Shop have been added. International brands such as Chanel, Dior, Lancôme and YSL feature strongly in wall personalisations, according to Dufry.

The liquor area puts a strong focus on Penderyn – a whisky produced by one of the first Welsh distillers in more than a century – and includes a tasting area as a central feature.

Local products are also showcased in other areas of the store, including Clogau Gold jewellery, which is said to contain rare Welsh gold in every piece. Sense of Place is further enhanced by the inclusion of a range of Welsh football and rugby merchandise, Welsh confectionery brands such as Gwynedd and Brays, and Brecon Careg water.

In the jewellery section, a number of brands have been introduced including Follie Follie, Links of London, and Hugo Boss watches, while the fashion area showcases brands such as Fat Face, Superdry and Animal.
