Smoking thrills: Dunhill’s limited-edition cigarette blends |
UK. Dunhill has reported a successful start to its 100th anniversary celebrations, which have seen the launch of a range of limited-edition blends in travel retail.
Introduced in February, initially in 33 countries covering 65 airports, the Asia Pacific region has seen a significant upsurge in sales, according to the company.
Taipei has seen volume grow by up to 200 cartons a day, with Japan contributing comparable results as sales have increased by 100 cartons per day.
Already a popular brand in Asia Pacific, Dunhill is celebrating the heritage of the brand, while reinforcing the brand’s contemporary image and remaining true to its ethos “˜Perfectionists in Tobacco’.
In the Middle East, Dubai has been the highlight of the region, where sales of up to 130 cartons a day were achieved in the first ten days of March.
Europe, too, has seen uplift in sales, it said.
In addition to providing new blends and packaging, Dunhill aims to make a bold statement in merchandising by providing more than 350 units, which have been installed in selected airports worldwide.
Speaking about the success of the launch, Tatiana Duvanskaya, Global Brand Manager for Travel Retail, stated: “We are delighted to see such a positive response from both our customers and consumers. It is a wonderful reflection of all the hard work and research that went into putting this pioneering approach into action.
“This is the first time Dunhill has embarked on a strategy of launching a limited-edition product of such magnitude in duty free, and it has paid immediate dividends by capturing the imagination of our consumers.”
The three blends come in striking packaging that is designed to demonstrate the brand’s modernity, combining new colour combinations with exciting packaging techniques, said Duvanskaya.
The celebration packs are available in two presentations. The first is a 100-cigarette cube, including five packs of a single blend, available in airports. The second, available onboard selected airlines, is a special edition gift box containing three packs of each of the different blends.
The company noted that the pricing of the 100th anniversary packs was subject to change, although 100s packs will be price index 70% versus King Size 200 cigarettes.
