SINGAPORE. Emirates is making use of EYE’s digital media platform in Singapore Changi Airport to broadcast live coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup to travellers.
As a sponsor of the World Cup, Emirates is showing each match live on a number of plasma screens across Changi Airport terminals 2 and 3.
Fans will also be able to get World Cup updates on their team’s progress with screenings of the most recent matches when they are onboard the carrier’s planes as well.
Emirates Airline & Group Executive Vice Chairman Maurice Flanagan said: “This is another important way that we utilise our FIFA sponsorship to benefit our passengers and sport fans around the world.
“While football fans can enjoy live action from the FIFA World Cup in airports across our network, we can ensure that our passengers onboard miss none of the joy and heartache of this great sporting tournament, with screenings of recent matches and live score updates.”
Travelling football fans need not miss out on the World Cup action whether they are departing or in transit, as Emirates now shows each match live on a number of plasma screens across Singapore Changi Airport terminals 2 and 3 |
Other than Changi, Emirates is also airing the sporting event at airports in New York, Zürich, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Milan, Hamburg, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Dubai, among others.
EYE Singapore Head of Marketing Junice Liew said: “This is a great example of EYE’s client, Emirates, showcasing its brand and maximising digital advertising opportunities at famous international airports, such as Changi.
“Emirates recognises Changi as a platform for broadening its audience scope, and with the FIFA World Cup as one of the world’s most watched events, there’s never been a better opportunity to showcase the Emirates brand alongside this global event in real-time within an airport environment.”
Emirates’ partnership with FIFA began at the 2006 FIFA World Cup when it became the first airline to be a sponsor of the international sporting event. Following on from the success of the tournament in Germany, Emirates then cemented its status as an Official FIFA Partner up to and including the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
