“Epic in scale – the biggest set that we’ve ever worked on” – new Abu Dhabi International Airport Midfield Terminal brought to life in latest Mission Impossible film

UAE. Abu Dhabi Airports has released behind the scenes footage of the just released Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One film, partly shot at the soon to be opened and long-awaited new Abu Dhabi International Airport Midfield Terminal.

The film’s Writer/Director Christopher McQuarrie says of the airport setting in which star Tom Cruise plays out several action scenes, “Etihad and Abu Dhabi Airports provided us with this airport that gave us this opportunity to shoot a sequence in a way one had never been done.

“It was an extraordinary, beautiful location… that looks like these giant sand dunes, so we thought what better environment for Tom to be running across. It’s epic in scale.

“It really was the biggest set we’d ever worked on.”

In celebration of the film, Mission: Impossible livery can be seen on an Etihad Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The Midfield Terminal’s spectacular structure was also decorated with a similar theme to recognise its role in the movie, part of which was shot on the building’s 315 metre roof.
