MALAYSIA. Staff at Malaysia Airports (Niaga), or Eraman Malaysia, organised a charity visit to an old people’s home in conjunction with the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations earlier this month.

The charity visit to the Rumah Seri Kenangan Cheras old people’s home was part of the company’s “The Greatest Love of All” community service campaign, which will run through May and June as a tribute to Mothers and Fathers. “Sekalung Budi Jalinan Kasih” is an extension of the campaign, which honours the people who have the greatest love – parents for their children.

The highlight of the event was a hand-over ceremony of the new gazebo donated by Eraman Malaysia to the old people’s home by Malaysia Airports (Niaga) Sdn Bhd Director/CEO Umar Bustamam to the home’s Principal, Desa Md Rabi.

The gazebo was built as a focal point for the residence and the home’s visitors. Other activities included staff and volunteers conducting spring cleaning and flower planting in the home’s garden.

In his speech, Umar said the charity visit aimed to alleviate the loneliness of the residents as well as reminding his staff about how they should look after their parents. “Our staff will benefit from this trip as they will experience first hand the problems faced by the aged,” said Umar.

“This campaign is also one of the many ways that Eraman Malaysia discharges its duty as a responsible corporate citizen and gives back to the society in which it lives,” he added.
