Comment: With the appointment of Patrick Bouchard, The Estée Lauder Companies has secured the services of an executive who brings clear strategic thinking and insights, not to mention a classy industry track record, to its senior team, writes Dermot Davitt. In his years with Puig, Bouchard helped reinforce the role and importance of travel retail at the highest level, as the company used the channel as one of its key brand showcases. The memorable (and hugely successful) launch of Paco Rabanne 1 Million was a particular highlight, backed up by line extensions such as Lady Million plus impressive brand launches for Invictus, Valentina and others. Bouchard has also been a committed participant in and advocate for the industry, through his time on the TFWA Management Committee and through his support for The Trinity Forum, where he has been a welcome guest and speaker. We congratulate him on his new role and the Estée Lauder team on a fine appointment.
