UK. British company Eyelevel Ltd is introducing a number of product innovations specially targeted at the airline industry.
The first is the Bistro Box, a new product developed for inflight trolleys which enables food, beverages and impulse purchases to be placed at passengers’ eye level.
The self-contained unit is a closed, deep tray that opens up for display purposes and can be stowed within the cart itself. The unit provides:
– Fresh food display
– Till
– Hot drinks display
– Impulse purchase display
– General advertising space.
Eyelevel Ltd Managing Director Matthew Delamere believes the Bistro Box would boost revenue for airlines in two ways: “First, passengers are more inclined to purchase products because they can now see what the airline is offering. Second, revenue is earned from the advertising space on the sides of the Bistro Box,” he said.
Delamere told The Moodie Report that a number of trials were being set up with airlines. “We have our first trial with bmibaby on 18 July, and I am pleased to say Wizz Air has just booked a trial for 6 August,” he said, adding: “A trial onboard Jet2 is scheduled to begin at the end of this month.”

Handmade gift bags
The second product innovation from Eyelevel Ltd is a range of gift bags carrying the tagline “Gift-wrapping service at 35,000 feet”.
The bags allow items purchased onboard the aircraft to be professionally packaged and presented to the passenger.
Each bag is handmade and comes with a quality rope handle and white tissue paper. They are available in a variety of airline-specific colours.
