UK. Jamie Denholm, the former well-respected Business Director of UK sunglass supplier Fabris Lane, has taken a new role in the eyewear and travel retail industry as Director of Eyeworks Industries.

Denholm, a well-known and popular figure who worked at Fabris Lane as Business Director for more than 11 years, returns to the trade following a one-year absence on gardening leave after his departure from Fabris Lane. “In my new role, I will be joined by some familiar faces,” he told The Moodie Report.

Eyeworks Industries is an innovative collaboration of leading global companies involved in the design, manufacture, quality assurance, distribution and marketing of high-quality fashion eyewear and accessories.

The company spans both the optical and sunglass industries, in the private label, branded, licensing and premium sectors. The group generates sales in excess of 50 million pairs annually.

The group has operations in the US, Asia and now the UK/Europe, headed by Denholm.

Detailing the firm’s strengths, Denholm enthused: “The efficiency and flexibility of our manufacturing structure, direct supply, and ability to quickly respond to changes in market demands are paramount to the group’s success and the development of long-term relationships with key brand owners and retailers.

“Our technical and manufacturing expertise is a result of decades of industry experience and our ongoing commitment,” he said. “This ensures our clients and their customers receive the highest product quality and standards through meticulous design by adopting innovative technologies during manufacturing; defining mechanical and technical standards; researching the best production quality in the materials and components used; carrying out stringent quality controls; and testing using renowned industry laboratories.”

He added that Eyeworks Industries’ engineering and design teams are focused on the continuous innovation of manufacturing, the research of design and style, the analysis of the evolution of consumer lifestyles, and the interpretation of fashion trends.

“Product Lifecycle Management, CAx and NX technologies form the core operating platforms that aid our design, analysis, development and the manufacture of rapid prototypes, tooling and the final product. This combination places Eyewear Industries in an enviable position, as it delivers unrivalled speed to market,” he said.

Travel retail activities

In response to the explosion onto the travel retail market of affordable, recognisable global sunglass brands with a lower retail price offering, Eyeworks Industries has produced a ‘brand map’ that identifies what it describes as “the true entry to the mid-market sector, retailing at between £12.75 and £38.50”.

Denholm explained: “In collaboration with the travel retail Industry, we’ve developed exclusive collections and innovative packaging that will provide operators with directional, desirable, fashionable product at affordable price points, without compromising quality or design.”
