FASHION: New direction at Givenchy Couture

FRANCE. Luxury goods group LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton today named Marco Gobbetti as chief executive of Givenchy Couture to take charge of the brand’s ongoing reorganisation.

Gobbetti succeeds Marianne Tesler, who has headed the couture house since 1999 and oversaw the first phase of Givenchy’s repositioning.

Gobbetti announced yesterday that he would leave his chief executive position at Italian fashion company Moschino at the end of March.

“His international experience in the fashion and leather goods sector … will be a valuable advantage for the second phase of development of the prestigious Givenchy brand,” LVMH president and CEO Bernard Arnault said in a statement.

One of Gobbetti’s first tasks will be to replace outgoing designer Julien MacDonald, who will show his last collection for Givenchy on 5 March.
