Finnish confectionery and food company Fazer has upped its focus on sustainability as it adds new products to its key brands. The company expects to have 90% of its confectionery and biscuit lines palm oil free by the end of this year.
Fazer is also moving towards sustainable packaging through the reduction of plastics in its confectionery products. Initiatives this year have centred on reducing the thickness and the amount of plastic used in wrappers of Fazer’s Twisted Pralines, while the travel retail Tutti Frutti range has also seen a reduction in plastic sharing bags.
At this year’s TFWA World Exhibition, Fazer highlighted the 420g limited-edition Karl Fazer Summer selection, an assortment of chocolate pralines in blueberry truffle, raspberry yoghurt and pear yoghurt flavours.
New to the Dumle line-up is a 206g Gift Box containing two Dumle lollipops, two Dumle sticks, one bag of wrapped Dumle originals and one Dumle Crunchy Countline. A 320g Dumle Summer Mix offers Dumle Pear, Dumle Salty Caramel and Dumle Lemon flavours.
An on-trend Tutti Frutti Remix Sour (450g), which is gelatin and palm oil free, joins the Tutti Frutti offer in travel retail.
Fazer is also targeting Valentine’s Day shoppers through its Geisha brand with a ‘Let Your Love Bloom’ campaign; while its Moomin range will celebrate the popular Finnish characters’ 80th anniversary with a selection of limited-edition products and an on-pack promotion on the Karl Fazer Milk Chocolate 250g tablet.
The characters were created by the Finnish writer and artist Tove Jansson, whose first Moomin book was published in 1945. Fazer’s cooperation with Jansson dates back to the 1950s, with the first Moomin sweets launched in 1957. ✈️
