First finalists named for FAB Awards ahead of blockbuster Barcelona event

SPAIN. The Moodie Davitt Report is delighted to commence the phased reveal of finalists in the Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Awards to be held in Barcelona, Spain on 26 June.

There are 23 categories in this year’s FAB Awards which attracted a record-breaking number of entries. There will also be additional special judges’ awards.

In a change from previous years, all finalists will receive a FAB 2025 Order of Merit Award, alongside regional and global winners. In certain of the evening’s premier categories, additional awards will be made according to size of airport (by passenger numbers) as well as an overall accolade.

We begin the big reveal today with finalists in four categories:

  • FAB Airport Health-Centred Offer of the Year: A key emerging sector within airport food & beverage, a wellness dynamic reflected in multiple high-quality and innovative entries.
  • FAB Airport Food & Beverage Digital Initiative of the Year: In an ever-evolving omnichannel world, this award reflects the vital importance of customer connection through an array of digital armoury. This year’s finalists represent a compelling line-up of innovative initiatives.
  • FAB Airport Customer/Hospitality Initiative of the Year: The ‘H’ word – hospitality – is arguably the most important one in the whole airport food & beverage and lounges lexicon, yet is one so often overlooked. Our finalists in this award category all display an impressively consumer-centric philosophy.
  • FAB Airport Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Initiative of the Year: At a time in history when vital principles of diversity, equity and inclusion are being undermined at the highest political level, we consider it more important than ever to champion such values. This year’s finalists offer multiple inspirational examples of walking the walk in terms of social principles.

The Moodie Davitt Report Chairman and Founder of the FAB Awards Martin Moodie said: “This year’s FAB Awards are by far the most hotly contested in the event’s proud 14-year history.

“The incredible response underlines the fact that the F&B, lounges and wider hospitality space is in the ascendancy as never before. We are talking not just quantitatively but also qualitatively. Many of the entries make the tastebuds tingle and the spirit soar.

“It’s also deeply encouraging to note the innate consumer-centricity of so many entries; the rapid and creative response to consumer trends; the burgeoning commitment to taste and sense of place; the emphasis on key social principles; and the unrelenting focus on ensuring airport F&B is not a poor relation of its downtown equivalent.”

Other notable names joining the judging team this year are (from left) ECE Marketplaces Project Director – Leasing Services Jonathan Doughty; Hunter Palmer – Global Retail Solutions Co-Founder Nick Goddard-Palmer; The Hayward Partnership Airport and Airline F&B and M&A Specialist Robert Shepherd; and Trippas White Group CEO Kevin Zajax
