Five brands feature in new food court at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport

USA. A new food court, operated by HMSHost, has opened in Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Terminal 1. In a remodelled space, it features four national concepts and an offering from a well-known local chef.

The airport’s latest tenants – PinKU, Shake Shack, Auntie Anne’s, Moe’s Southwest Grill and Firehouse Subs – are housed in an area featuring plentiful natural light, modern fireplaces and a two-storey tall wall of windows with views of the airfield.

Pretty in pink: Local restaurant brand PinKU is run by chef John Sugimura and his business partner Xiaoteng Huang, who quit a high-flying corporate career to pursue his entrepreneurial dream

PinKU is a fine-casual restaurant from award-winning local chef John Sugimura, with a menu staple of Japanese street food and sushi. The drinks options include sake and cocktails, which are served from a bright pink ‘tea house’ at the centre of the food court.

Shake Shack, which has completed several recent US airport openings, is a national brand that traces its roots to a hot dog cart in Manhattan. On the menu are deluxe burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, shakes, beer, wine and more.

Shake Shack’s airport footprint is expanding rapidly with this new outlet opening in quick succession with others at Las Vegas McCarran and New Orleans

Auntie Anne’s is a well-known US brand that offers a variety of pretzels, pretzel nuggets and pretzel dogs.

Moe’s Southwest Grill is a national brand which is making its first appearance in Minnesota. It serves Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine, with options including burritos, quesadillas, tacos, burrito bowls and nachos.

US pretzel specialist Auntie Anne’s has teamed up with Cinnabon, which has outlets in more than 50 countries, at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport

The fifth opening in the new food court is Firehouse Subs, a US brand which was founded by firefighters. Specialty subs are the staple of its menu, including the Firehouse Steak and Cheese.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Terminal 1, Auntie Anne’s and Cinnabon have recently opened in a combined location in Concourse F, near Gate F4. Offerings include sweet and savoury soft pretzels and oven-hot, fresh cinnamon rolls.
