Frankfurt Airport hosts four-week long Oktoberfest campaign

The month-long Oktoberfest campaign features a brass band to entertain passengers

GERMANY. Frankfurt Airport is celebrating the annual Oktoberfest beer festival with its own four-week campaign.

It features daily entertainment from brass band Bayern Stürmer in Pier Z and the non-Schengen part of Terminal 2, as well as in the landside marketplaces in Terminal 1 on weekends.

Visitors and passengers can play traditional Bavarian sports such as milk can throwing, penny pitching, beer mug lifting and ring tossing. Players receive small gifts as souvenirs.

There is also a strong food & beverage element, said airport company Fraport. Restaurants and bistros at the airport will serve weisswurst (white sausage) or leberkäse (sausage loaf) with fresh tap beer or plum pie with a mug of coffee, among other specialties.

In the specially decorated marketplaces, shops will offer traditional costumes, beer steins, Oktoberfest shirts, and a wide range of Bavarian souvenirs. Gebr Heinemann is among the companies taking part in the campaign, as reported.

Promoters wearing dirndls and lederhosen will distribute multilingual flyers containing coupons that can be redeemed in more than 30 shops, restaurants, and cafés. These can be used to redeem discounts on selected items.

The Oktoberfest is part of the continuing “Great to have you here!” service programme that Frankfurt Airport launched several years ago for its passengers and visitors. Frankfurt Airport welcomed more than 58 million passengers in 2013.
