GERMANY. Airport operator Fraport said today that its June passenger traffic figures for the six airports it owns or has a stake in fell -1% to 6.38 million.
Aircraft movements also declined -3.3% year-on-year.
Hahn airport, outside Frankfurt, continued to buck the down trend with a big jump in passengers. Driven by the rapid growth of low cost airlines, in which it specialises, the airport posted a + 59% year-on-year increase to 212,242 passengers, Fraport said.
Passenger levels dropped -2.3% to 4.25 million at Fraport’s flagship airport, Frankfurt, which is Europe’s second-largest behind London Heathrow in terms of passengers, and the largest in terms of cargo.
The airport operator also has stakes in five other airports, including Frankfurt Hahn and two others in Germany, Antalya in Turkey, and one in Peru.
