RUSSIA. Kazan Duty Free, a partner of Gebr Heinemann, has captured a ten-year contract for duty free and duty paid retailing at Kazan Airport. A new terminal has just been built at the location and will be operational by year-end.
The new shops, designed by Kazan Duty Free (owned by Mars Rachemov) and the Gebr Heinemann team led by Bernard Schlafstein, will open later this year.
Kazan Duty Free operates retail units in the existing terminal, and has been working with Gebr Heinemann for the past five years.
The Russian company also recently won concession agreements to operate duty free shops at Irkutsk, Tomsk and Begeshevo airports, Gebr Heinemann told The Moodie Report.
Kazan is the capital city of Tatarstan and will be one of the venues for the Football World Cup in 2018.
Gebr Heinemann Area Director Russia and CIS Pierre Viarnaud said: “This development confirms the growing importance of the regional airports in Russia and we are glad to be associated with Kazan Duty Free in these projects.”
