Global Drinks unveils major foray into Japanese whisky with global launch of Misaka

Hong Kong-based Global Drinks Ltd today announced the global launch of Misaka, a premium Japanese whisky range. It will debut at the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) Asia Pacific show in Singapore from 13 May.

Global Drinks Managing Director Harry Kartasis said the Misaka collection comprises seven “exceptional” whiskies that combine fine natural ingredients and time-honoured distillation techniques from Scotland and Japan.

“Misaka whisky brings together 700 years’ of Scottish whisky-making excellence with 100 years’ of Japanese whisky craftsmanship” – Global Drinks Managing Director Harry Kartasis

The Misaka range includes a 3-5 Year Old pure malt; a 12 Year Old pure malt finished in PX Sherry Oloroso casks; and a 12 Year Old pure malt finished in rare Hokkaido Mizunara (Japanese oak) casks.

They are complemented by several 15, 18, and 21 year blended and pure malt expressions also finished in prized Mizunara oak.

These premium and super-premium whiskies are aimed at discerning global travellers and high-end duty-paid accounts, the brand owner said.

“Misaka whisky brings together 700 years’ of Scottish whisky-making excellence with 100 years’ of Japanese whisky craftsmanship,” Kartasis commented.

“By sourcing the finest natural ingredients and employing meticulous production methods, we’ve created an exceptional range of whiskies that will captivate both existing connoisseurs and introduce new consumers to the category.”

The Misaka brand draws inspiration from the pristine natural spring water source located 250 metres beneath the mountain range of the same name in Japan’s Yamanashi prefecture – home to the famed Mount Fuji.

This pure water, combined with the rare Mizunara oak casks, imbues the whiskies with what Kartasis described as unique and alluring flavour profile.

Global Drinks is confident the Misaka range will resonate with global consumers seeking exceptional quality and provenance in their whisky.

The TFWA launch will provide the opportunity to introduce the brand to key industry stakeholders, including retailers, wholesalers, brand owners, and prominent media titles, Kartasis said.

“Our goal with Misaka is to attract new whisky enthusiasts while also providing our retail and wholesale partners with premium products that drive growth and foster long-term relationships,” he added.

“We’re thrilled to share this exceptional range with the world.” {Look out for interview with Harry Kartasis from the forthcoming TFWA show}. ✈
