Global Exchange wins currency exchange tender at Tenerife Airport

SPAIN. Global Exchange has won the tender to operate currency exchange and tax refund services at Tenerife Sur International Airport.

The company will operate two outlets at the airport under a five-year contract commencing at the start of 2015. Global Exchange said it will invest €200,000 in the new business.

Global Exchange President and CEO Isidoro Alanís said: “Tenerife represents a strategic location since every year more than 7.8 million international passengers travel through this airport, almost 5 million of them from countries beyond the Eurozone.”

Global Exchange operates 27 counters within the six busiest Spanish airports, which between them serve 62% of the country’s annual passenger traffic. Tenerife Sur is the seventh busiest airport in Spain, with more than 8.6 million passengers a year.

The operator now manages 150 branches across 46 international airports in countries including Uruguay, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Guatemala, Jamaica, Jordan, Morocco, Spain, Nicaragua, Trinidad and Tobago, Paraguay and Ecuador.
